Keywords
Keywords can be assigned to assets, video sequences and shots in the user interface, from a pool of predefined keywords that you should prepopulate the system with, via the administration interface. Keywords are 1-word descriptors that sum up the media content. When assigning a keyword in the user interface, the users need the permissions use_<asset_type>keyword and edit_sequence. All keyword categories for that asset type and production will be then suggested, in order of priority/name. Then within each category, a drop down list with all possible keywords, ordered by their priority/name (more details in the user handbook). The keywords assigned will be saved in the asset's "Chosen keywords" field.
In the user interface you can use keywords to refine your search results. If you added keywords in your system and set up the search to use keywords, a drop down list with all the keywords of that type, that were added via the administration interface, will be suggested, ordered by priority of the keyword category, and within the category by priority of the keyword.
Administration: Categories
Keyword categories are used to group keywords belonging to the same asset type. You can add a keyword category for one of the three asset types only via the administration interface. You should give it a name, adjust its priority, assign it to a production and may add one or more keywords to it. Deleting a keyword category leaves its contained keywords unallocated to any category. Examples of keyword categories useful for media: content, lighting, distance, season, camera movement, place, time, etc. Keywords may be added to the category via their own admin page as well:
