License, licensor, approval

Contrary to what the name suggests, these models have nothing to do with the license that allows the company to use medialoopster, or with the upper functional limits (for example how many users or worker nodes are allowed in the system). These models define a system of approving and tagging assets, video sequences and video shots for production.

License, licensing, licensor

medialoopster administration → medialoopster →License / Licensing / Licensor

The
license model ("Rechte") is used to tag various decisions and rights on the video sequences and shots. You should manually add a few entries via the administration interface, give them a name and assign them one of the predefined colour system:

  • grey=DEFAULT (for example for: "please consult the expert")

  • red=ERROR (for example for: "blocked from production")
  • yellow=WARNING (for example for: "adjust frame count")
  • green=SUCCESS (for example for: "approved")

With the settings variable DEFAULT_LICENSE_NAME you can provide a default Name for the License Object.

The license with the first ID will be automatically used to tag newly created video assets.

The licensing model binds shots to licenses. When adding a licensing, you may add one or more licenses from the displayed licenses, and browse to add one or more shots. At the moment the model is not used.

The licensor ("Herkunft") model is simply designed to enter a longer note that optionally describes the sequence origin.

User interface → Edit asset → Licensor / License

The users with change_shot_license and change_shot_licensor permissions can change the licensor/license of video sequence by selecting in the user interface from a drop down list with one from the system. Then all its shots will inherit them and will be marked in the frontend with the license color. In the admin page of the shots, the fields "Licensor" and "License" will be marked therewith. You can hide a licensor or license from this drop down list by unchecking Show in frontend in their admin page. This way is preferred to deleting the entries.

User interface → Search options → Rights/Origin/License/Licensor

You can even do advanced search on licenses and licensors, if you setup the search configuration for that.

Editorial approval (Freigabe)

All assets are initially at asset creation approved for editorial purpose. Users with the permission approve_<asset_type>_asset can afterwards approve/disapprove them (mode details in the user handbook). Users without this permission will as well not see the disapproved assets.
